Miniature Roses

Miniature roses are exactly what they sound like. They have all of the fragrance and beauty of a regular rose, but they have smaller blooms. These particular roses are great for indoor planting. Miniature Roses are delicate looking rose bushes ranging in size from five inches to four feet tall, with flowers ranging from half an inch to two inches in diameter. Miniature roses are used as ground cover, edging, accenting, and in rock gardens, but not usually for cutting, flower arrangement, or to give to your sweetheart. The flowers of the miniature rose bush are colorful, with a range of colors similar to larger shrub roses and hybrid teas, but with little or no fragrance. That said, miniature roses bloom vigorously and prolifically from the spring straight through the autumn.
Miniature roses come in many colors and varieties. There truly is something to please everyone. These roses are great additions to a flower bed, window box or even inside the home or office as a potted variety. With so many choices available, the demand for these roses has risen. Once hard to find, they are now available in most garden centers and even in discount department stores as well. Now, this is not to say that the consumer can't find better, more hardy options other places.

Indoors or out, miniature roses, like all roses, need to be pruned and fertilized to ensure good spring growth.
For really colorful and prolific blooms, use a potassium-heavy fertilizer. Miniature roses respond well to frequent, "weak" fertilization -- dilute the fertilizer to half or a quarter the recommended strength and apply it weekly.
