Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens, once the private gardens of Kensington Palace, is one of the Royal Parks of London. Kensington Gardens covers an area of 1.1km² (275 acres) and lies immediately to the west of Hyde Park.

At Kensington Gardens you can see open lawns, shady lanes, and walking paths planted with magnificent trees and ornamental flower beds. At the centre of the garden is a pond where water birds are a common scene. Benches are interspersed around the pond where visitors can enjoy a quiet spot to enjoy a rest.

The history of Kensington Gardens is closely linked with that of Kensington Palace, which stands near the western boundary of the gardens. A popular feature in Kensington Gardens is the Peter Pan statue. Wildlife in the park include bird watching and a variety of fish. Kensington Gardens is a popular place for sunbathing and picnics. It is also popular as a healthy walking route to work for commuters. There are several upcoming events at Kensington Gardens. These include Scottish Country Dancing(on 15 Sep 2007), Guided Walk such as Art & Architecture(25 October 2007) and even Christmas(13 Dec 2007) and so on.

At Kensington Gardens, The Diana, Princess of Wales' Memorial Playground is a fantastic adventure for kids up to the age of 12. Ever year many youngsters visit the playground. Kensington Gardens is a romantic Italian garden. It is open from 6am to dusk all year round. Not only are there beautiful plants and flowers in the gardens, there are many fascinating buildings and monuments.

London has many beautiful gardens as well as other places of attractions. Springtime in London carries an almost tangible air of a city waking up to longer days and outdoor pursuits. The cheerful yellow of daffodils studs the parks, and less-hardy Londoners turn out for their first jog of the year to find themselves puffing in the wake of serious runners in training for the Marathon. As spring turns into summer, the royal parks reach their full glory, and in Kensington Gardens nannies gather to chat under venerable chestnut trees. As autumn takes hold, these same trees are ablaze with red and gold. Londoners' thoughts turn to afternoons in museums and art galleries, followed by tea in a cafe.
London's best hotels are famed for their discreet service and attention to detail. Although it was not until relatively recently that London responded to the global trend for stylish, more individualistic accommodation, there is now an incomparable array of establishments, ranging from the ultramodern to the ingeniously or ironically traditional.
